Lyrics
Just Around The Bend
Roy Hurd /Jonathan Cross
I picked up an old drifter on the Oklahoma line
I was heading back for Tulsa and the girl I left behind
We passed the time listening to the music as we rolled
Till he reached up and turned off the radio
He spoke about a woman the true love of his life
Soon to have a child and how she longed to be his wife
Young and scared he took off runnin till he knew where he belonged
But when he got back to tell her she was gone
He said
Chorus:
Somewhere down the road she’s
waitin
I know she’ll take me back again
I’ll hold her in my arms I’ll never let
her go
She’s somewhere just around the
bend
Day to day it’s town to town with not much in between
Just lookin for my Ginny Brown and the child I’ve never seen
That’s my whole life story son every line is true
I’ve talked enough now tell me about you
I was raised up by my Momma in her soft and gentle way
Though I never knew my Daddy she still loves him to this day
I believe you should meet her when we get to Tulsa town
My Mama’s name is Ginny Brown
Somewhere down this road she’s
waitin
I know she’ll take you back again
Hold her in your arms never let her
go
She’s up here just around the bend
Somewhere down the road she’s
waitin
I know she’ll take you back again
Hold her in your arms never let her
go
She’s somewhere just around the
bend
Somewhere just around the bend
Just Around The Bend:
I wrote this song back in my Nashville days, with my friend Jonathan Cross. I did have to rein him in when he wanted to have the son bring the dad to the grave yard and upon seeing Ginny Browns name on the grave stone the dad dies at the grave site. Although it is a country song and we could have killed them all, in the end we both agreed to just have them stay in the car. Nice singin’ on the old drifter’s vocal part Jonathan.
